Advice and assistance
Each borough has an empty property officer (EPO) who can offer advice and assistance to people concerned about an empty property or to owners who want to bring a property back into use.
The EPOs maintain a list of all the empty properties in their boroughs. Therefore if you know about an empty property, you can contact an empty property officer to see if they know about it already. Please note that currently these lists are not made available to the public.
In addition, they provide advice and information to owners about how to bring their property back into use. This can include advice about renting, selling and also about letting or leasing schemes run by the council or their partner organisations. They can also give advice about grants that may be available in their borough (see section on 'grants').
