One of the sub-regional initiatives enables an empty property owner-occupation grant to be made available for either current or prospective owners to use an empty property (or part of an empty property) as their primary home (when financial assistance is needed to make their property habitable).

Whilst the grant (up to a maximum of £25,000) is available for first time buyers (with an additional incentive for key workers of up to £10,000), it is necessary to own a property that has been empty for at least a year to qualify for a grant.
